Year 11 and 13 Trip to Cologne

Year 11 and 13 Trip to CologneOn Friday 22nd September, 33 Year 11 and 13 students departed for Cologne, in order to put their language skills to good use and to discover a little more about Germany beyond the classroom.

Over an action-packed three days, we were treated to a historical tour of the city centre, had the chance to unleash our inner athletes at the Sport and Olympic Museum, and to recover by sampling the delicious chocolate on offer next door at the Lindt Chocolate Museum. After a chance to go “kegeln” together and learn some new bowling vocabulary, a highlight of the trip was admiring the baroque cathedral, with the chance to climb the Southern Tower’s 533 steps for the best views of Cologne!

Mrs Lampers, Teacher of German

It was all so incredible, but I will never forget the feeling of seeing the Cathedral for the first time – I actually couldn’t believe it.

I found the trip to be immensely influential on my German as I spoke to a variety of different native speakers throughout my time there, e.g talking to a cashier or responding to my tour guide’s questions. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and I thank all the teachers who took us there. Danke!
