Year 11: Looking Forward to Next Week…👀 Sixth Form Open Evening

Congratulations, Year 11 — finishing your mocks is a brilliant milestone. You’ve put the work in, and it shows!

Your next chapter at MGGS will feel very different from lower school – greater independence, specialised study, and opportunities designed to help you grow academically and personally. Our Sixth Form Open Evening is your chance to experience what that step up truly looks like.

The Sixth Form silent study space, affectionately known as “The Engine Room”, has recently been renovated. The name, which has even been officially recognised by Google Maps, was originally chosen to reflect our excellent academic Sixth Form. It symbolises how our dedicated support package provided here at MGGS acts as the critical machinery driving our entire system of student improvement forward.

Now, in 2025, The Engine Room continues to be a space of excellence and study, and as such, we continue to invest in it.  We now feature a cozy carpeted floor and brand-new furniture, including comfortable plush chairs, and we have increased the room’s capacity. For those not in our Sixth Form, students in Years 12-13 are allocated six hours of supervised silent study per fortnight; four hours in the Engine Room and two hours in the library. This space continues to be a hub of excellence and focused study, a commitment underscored by our recent investment in its renovation.
