Year 13 A Level Drama and Theatre students take to the stage
Year 13 A Level Drama and Theatre students captivated an invited audience of friends last week with their original devised pieces. ‘The Eulogy’ explored the grief, conflict and connection shared by four sisters in the aftermath of their father’s death. Drawing inspiration from the physical, emotionally charged style of Frantic Assembly, the ensemble crafted a performance that blended movement, dialogue and tightly choreographed sequences with tender moments of stillness and intimate storytelling.
‘The Manosphere’ used verbatim techniques and visually striking imagery to interrogate the rise of the “manosphere” and its impact on young women. Inspired by the socially engaged, research-driven practices of The Paper Birds theatre company, the ensemble blended real-world testimony with imaginative staging to shine a light on the digital spaces shaping modern gender politics.
Both groups dealt with the different subject matter with great maturity and sensitivity. Congratulations Year 13, we are very proud of you all!
