Year 13 A Level Drama students take to the stage for the final time
The Year 13 A Level Drama and Theatre students delivered their final practical examination on March 25th, presenting a series of contemporary monologues to a visiting AQA examiner. The performances marked the culmination of months of rigorous preparation, exploration, and refinement.
Each student performed in the distinctive style of director Katie Mitchell’s extreme naturalism, a form that demands meticulous attention to detail, emotional authenticity, and a deep connection to real-life behaviour. This approach challenged performers to strip back theatricality and instead focus on subtle, truthful expression – often incorporating precise, everyday actions alongside the spoken text.
Overall, the exam was a strong testament to the students’ dedication and growth, highlighting their readiness to take their skills beyond the classroom and into further study or performance opportunities. Congratulations to year 13 – we are very proud of you all!
