Year 7 Concert ๐ŸŽถ โ€“ A Showcase of Amazing Musicality!

On Wednesday evening, our talented Year 7 students took to the stage for their annual concert –ย  a festival of Samba beats and West African drumming! Their programme was performed with energy and confidence and featured; Djembe ensembles, traditional Samba grooves and outstanding solo performances from Jemima S, Aakhya H,ย  Freya E, Naomi R and Jemima S-W.ย  The evening closed with the massed Year 7 choir singing Siyahumba (with additional vocals and bass guitar from Mrs Hutchings), and a rousing three part rendition of Samba Chill.

Over 150 Year 7 students performed to a packed 350 strong (and cake fed) audience of proud parents and relatives; filling the hall with music and applause. The evening was a huge success and a lively celebration of MGGS creativity and teamwork.

A big thank you to everyone who ran and supported this event; the AV crew (Chloe W and Esra P), the refreshments and backstage team (Melanie Y, Sycus C, Ayandie M, Anam S, Sam W, Lilja T, Ash C) and especially those whoย  purchased from our delicious cake and cookie stall, and generously gave voluntary donations, raising an impressive ยฃ804 to equip the Music Department with new, equipment, instruments and enhanced facilities.

Looking ahead, the next major highlight in the Music event calendar will be the much-loved School Carol Service at All Saintsโ€™ Church Maidstone on Monday, 8th December at 7.00pm, where Year 7 students will once again take centre stage as a massed choir. Join us for a special evening of music and celebration to welcome in the festive season. ๐ŸŽ„
