Year 8 Art Update – Vibrant Abstract Expressionism Showcase!

Year 8 students have been continuing their exploration of 20th-century art movements, and this time our focus was on Abstract Expressionism. We looked closely at the inspiring work of artists such as Jackson Pollock and Wassily Kandinsky, discussing how colour, movement, and mark-making can be used to express emotion.

Students embraced the freedom of this style and created their own expressive pieces, using their artwork to communicate feelings, moods, and personal ideas. With access to a wide range of materials, they experimented with different techniques to achieve the outcomes they envisioned.

The results were vibrant, bold, and full of creativity. Well done, Year 8! 👏
