Year 9 Students Take a Dive into Improv with Actor Luke Dahill!
Last Friday, some of our Year 9 students took part in a dynamic 60-minute workshop led by professional actor Luke Dahill. Luke has recently played Jonathan in the smash-hit comedy The Play That Goes Wrong and he came in to share some of his knowledge and tips with us. Designed to build confidence, teamwork, and quick-thinking performance skills, the session was packed with high-energy activities and fast-paced challenges that kept everyone on their toes.
The workshop introduced students to the fundamentals of improvisation, encouraging them to embrace mistakes, think spontaneously, and commit fully to their characters. Through a series of comedic exercises, they explored the physical humour and exaggerated reactions that make The Play That Goes Wrong so iconic. Laughter filled the room as students experimented with dramatic mishaps and failed cues—celebrating the idea that in comedy, things going wrong can make everything go brilliantly right.
By the end of the session, students had not only developed new performance techniques but also strengthened their collaborative skills and creative confidence. The workshop proved to be an engaging and memorable experience, showcasing the joy of theatre when chaos becomes comedy.
