Year 9 Trip to Normandy

On Friday 22nd March, 56 students and 6 members of staff took part in a cross-curricular (French and History) residential trip to Normandy.

Students had the opportunity to stay in an 18th-century manor, which was used as a Nazi German residence during the second world war. They also had the chance to see a range of 1939-1945 museums along with the world Bayeux tapestry, depicting the 1066 Battle of Hastings.

Students had the chance to practice their French with the locals in a traditional market and in a hypermarket.

They also spent a day at the Mont-Saint-Michel, one of the seven wonders of the world!

Finally, they were lucky enough to experience sand yachting on a D-Day beach with qualified instructors!

Mr Belver, Ms Micalizzi, Ms McGovern, Ms Harris, Ms West and Ms Warwick.

“My friends and I had such a brilliant time on the Normandy trip 2024. Mont St Michel was gorgeous and an exciting day out. We got to experience French culture at its best on the island, the markets and the huge supermarket! We also had the opportunity to participate in sand yachting where we got covered in sand but it was great fun!! In the chateau, we were given the opportunity to go to a disco and karaoke. The chateau was a beautiful place to stay. I am very thankful for the teachers who gave up their time for us to have such an amazing trip.”   Gladys S 9F
