Years 7 and 8 Drama Theatre Trip to see The Ballet Shoes

On Wednesday, 14th January, the Drama department took 95 Year 7 & 8 pupils to see the highly acclaimed production of Ballet Shoes at the National Theatre.

From the moment we entered the auditorium, the production captured the pupils’ attention: ballet dancers in the aisles encouraged the audience to join in with their warm-ups before the story began! The well-loved tale was brought to life through outstanding performances, imaginative staging and beautiful movement. The pupils were particularly struck by the way dance, drama and music were woven together to tell the story, showing how different art forms can combine to create something truly special.  In particular, the seamless transitions really stood out as a key feature to take forward into their own future performances.

The show also offered plenty of inspiration for the pupils’ own creative work. Themes of determination, resilience and self-belief resonated strongly, leaving the audience feeling uplifted.  Ballet Shoes was a brilliant production and a valuable cultural experience, leaving pupils motivated, inspired and excited to develop their own creative talents: as the sisters vowed – we can write our futures, regardless of our pasts.
