Passing the Torch: Introducing the Head Student Team for 2026-27

Our sincere gratitude goes out to our outgoing Head Student team: Emma J, Isla G, Neha J, Emelia S, and Sreelakshmi S. They have been a truly exceptional team, serving the school community with great enthusiasm, passion, and dedication. Their leadership, particularly in spearheading an exceptionally successful RAG Week, has truly embodied what it means to be an MGGS student. We are extremely thankful for all their contributions over the past year.

After a thorough selection process, including a letter of application, formal interview, assembly presentation, and student voice vote, we are delighted to announce that Kaelyne-Marie A, Emily B, Saira I, Dylan J and Raphaella K have been appointed as the new team of Head Students for 2026-27. We offer them our congratulations! Each new Head Student brings distinct strengths and talents to this prestigious role, and we eagerly anticipate working alongside them. We also want to extend our appreciation to all the students who put themselves forward for this role. The standard of applicants was incredibly high this year. We were genuinely impressed by the commitment, courage, and desire to serve demonstrated by everyone who applied.

The transition between Head Student teams is already well underway, with both groups working closely together to ensure a smooth handover. It is fantastic to see the outgoing and incoming teams collaborating so effectively, reinforcing the strong tradition of student leadership at MGGS. The role of Head Student is central to the Sixth Form Student Leadership Team and the wider school community. From leading key school events to representing MGGS at external functions, our Head Students play a vital role in upholding the school’s values. They work with students, staff, governors, parents, and external visitors, setting an excellent example as role models. We now look forward to appointing students to our other leadership roles, including House Leaders and Subject Prefects, which will be announced in the coming months.

MGGS has a long-standing tradition of strong Sixth Form leadership, with opportunities for Year 12 students to take on positions such as Head Student, House Leader, Subject Prefect, or Student Representative. The dedication and maturity shown by students throughout this process are always impressive. Once appointed, these leaders serve their peers and the wider school community, living out our school motto: Non sibi sed omnibus – “Not for oneself but for all”.

We are incredibly proud of our student leaders and the invaluable contributions they make to MGGS.
